China’s textile industry is an industry with strong international competitiveness. It has played a huge role in prospering the market, expanding exports, absorbing employment, increasing farmers’ income, and promoting urbanization. It is also the first industry in China to achieve economic export-oriented. It is due to China's cheap labor resources and good textile industry foundation.

 

Although we are currently facing various problems such as increasingly fierce international competition and heavy domestic technological transformation and upgrading pressure, textile exports will continue to be an important force driving economic development for a long time to come. The external environment facing China’s textile exports is that the trade systems of various countries are becoming more and more open, the tariff barriers in international trade are becoming less and less, and the room for adjustment is less and less. "Trade inefficiency" serves as a hidden market barrier. It is getting more and more attention, how to solve the problem of "inefficiency in trade"? Or how to alleviate this problem is a concern of governments and enterprises all over the world. That is, how to carry out trade facilitation to remove or reduce technical and institutional obstacles in cross-border trade.

 

This study focuses on China and the United States, a major textile trade country, and chooses to explore the relationship between China and the United States in textile trade flow and trade facilitation as the entry point, and aims to discover the trade facilitation factors that affect the Sino-US textile trade flow. The purpose is to summarize experience, quantify the impact of different trade facilitation measures on textile trade flows, and provide assistance to Chinese textile export enterprises. The research starts with the concept of trade facilitation, and on the basis of summarizing the overall situation and characteristics of Sino-US textile trade, combing the empirical research on trade facilitation and putting forward research ideas.

 

1. Using the trade facilitation evaluation method proposed by the World Bank to evaluate the level of trade facilitation between China and the United States, the results show that the level of trade facilitation in the United States has not advanced or regressed since 2007, which is related to the new trade protectionism and also to the United States. The change in the management concept of the customs is related; in the same period, China's trade facilitation level has been greatly improved, which is in line with China's vigorous development of an export-oriented economy.

 

2. Based on the gravity model, a theoretical model affecting Sino-US textile trade was constructed, and the model was verified using data collected from sources such as the World Bank Development Database. It was found that the bilateral population scale and economic scale have a significant positive impact on trade flows. Only the level of US trade facilitation has a significant positive impact on the flow of Sino-US textile trade, and the level of China’s trade facilitation is not significant.

 

3. On the basis of theoretical research and empirical analysis, based on the factors that affect Sino-US textile trade, especially the experience in trade facilitation, analyze the positive and negative effects of US trade facilitation measures on the export of Chinese textile companies for Chinese companies Influence. Chinese textile export enterprises must deeply understand the importance of trade facilitation to trade, understand the uneven development of various aspects of US trade facilitation, and focus on using the US trade facilitation environment to expand exports.
