The drum shear foam fatigue testing machine is used to determine the compressive fatigue resistance of foam materials. The drum applies constant transverse and longitudinal forces to the specimen for dynamic shear fatigue testing.
Standards:
ASTM D1564 ASTM D3574
Test Procedure:
On the drum shear foam fatigue testing machine, adjust the drum to subject the foam specimen to a constant force of 111 Newtons. Key measurements can be performed by wrapping a lightweight fabric sling around the center of the drum, placing the electronic scale vertically above the drum, and ensuring the drum axis and pivot axis are in a horizontal plane, measuring the downward force applied.
Place the specimen in position and lower the drum to support it, adjusting the vertical height of the drum or mounting base accordingly. Observe the relationship between the pivot axis and the drum axis, and adjust the vertical height so that the two axes are substantially horizontal at the start of the test.
Mount the specimen on the base plate with its long side parallel to the direction of travel of the dynamic fatigue testing machine, and secure it with tape and metal fixing strips. When installing the core sample, the core face should face the base plate. Set the counter to zero, start the testing machine, and perform fatigue testing on the sample. The number of tests can be selected as 8000 cycles (Program A), 20000 cycles (Program B), or other cycles specified by the customer.
