Liquid liquid porosity meter

Liquid liquid porosity meter

  Product Introduction:

  This device is designed for materials with pore structure characteristics, such as thin films, filter media, ceramics, paper, textiles, etc., which have very small pore sizes. The device can be used to measure pore diameter, pore distribution, and liquid flow rate of materials with very small permeability.

  Principle of porosity meter: Wet liquid automatically fills the pores of the material, selecting two immiscible liquids. Liquid 1 with lower surface tension is used to fill the pores of the sample, while liquid 2 is added to the top of the sample and pressurized to replace the liquid inside the pores and flow through the empty pores. The flow rate of liquid 2 can also be measured without wetting the sample with liquid 1. The pore diameter is related to the surface tension of the two liquids, and the flow rate generates pore distribution and liquid permeability.

  D=hole diameter

  γ 1=interfacial surface tension of liquid

  Cos θ 1=Contact angle of liquid 1 on the pore surface

  P=pressure difference between two liquids acting on the sample

  Operation steps:

  Use two immiscible and saturated wetting liquids such as silwick and alcohol. Fill the pores with Silwick liquid and apply pressure to replace it with alcohol, then flow through the pores to measure the amount of liquid flowing out. Measure the flow rate and pressure difference of alcohol. Due to the low surface tension between silwick and alcohol, the contact angle is considered zero. Calculate the average flow pore diameter and pore distribution (such as CFP).
