Due to its limited spectral response to the UV range of 260 to 400 nm, G5842 is completely insensitive to visible and infrared radiation exceeding 400 nm. The applications of G5842 include solar ultraviolet detection, as its spectral response can match well with the solar ultraviolet spectrum, and the peak of the ultraviolet lamp is close to 365nm ("new generation" fluorescent lamp and "high voltage" HID).
