Flame spread index tester

Flame spread index tester

Compliant with standards:

BS 476 Part 6 A1:2009

Applicable scope:

The flame spread index tester is developed according to the testing method of BS 476-6. This method is used to compare the contributions of various materials to the formation of fires, and is mainly used to evaluate the fire resistance performance of wall and ceiling linings. The measurement results are represented by the flame propagation index. During the experiment, the specimen was exposed to a tubular spray lamp with a heat release of 530J/mL. After 2 minutes and 45 seconds of testing, adjust the total power of the two electric heaters to 1800 watts. After 5 minutes of testing, reduce the power to 1500 watts and maintain this power until the end of the test. The total testing time is 20 minutes. In order to evaluate the flame propagation performance of the tested material BS476-6, a thermocouple was used to continuously record the difference between the temperature in the chimney and the room temperature, and the obtained results were compared with the calibration curve. The calibration curve was measured in the same way using a specified density asbestos cement board. When comparing, the temperature difference values represented by the two curves at the same time were compared.
