1. Function and Application
The Du Pont Style Falling Dart Impact Tester is designed to evaluate the impact resistance of organic coatings and surface materials. It is commonly used to establish quality standards for resistance to surface damage and penetration of substrates, including plastics, resins, composites, fiberglass, and sheet metals.
The tester operates by guiding a cylindrical weight down a vertical drop tube, striking an impact dart (punch) resting on the test sample. The drop height is adjustable using a pin-handle mechanism, allowing controlled impact energy for reproducible testing.
