Zimbabwe's "Herald" reported on April 6, 2023 that the Zimbabwe Cotton Corporation stated that due to better rainfall this year, cotton production is expected to more than double to 100,000 tons, much higher than the previous season's 48,000 tons. It is the highest output in two years. In the past few years, due to the continuous drought in some cotton-growing areas, the cotton production of more than 350,000 farmers was affected.

Steward Mubonderi, chairman of the Cotton Production and Marketing Association, said that since some cotton plantations are invested by private companies and are not currently included in the statistics, the minimum output this year is expected to be 100,000 tons.
