Zipper wear test: What you must know?

Zipper wear test: What you must know?

Zippers are a common garment accessory that can easily connect or separate two pieces of fabric. However, zippers can also wear out over time with use, causing them to snag, break or fall off. To ensure the quality and durability of zippers, we need to perform a zipper wear test to evaluate their performance and longevity.

Tensile-Strength-Test

Zipper wear test is a test method that simulates the friction and impact that zippers are subjected to in actual use, and it can test the strength, abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance, temperature resistance and other indicators of zippers. There are many methods of zipper wear testing, the most common of which are the cyclic pulling method and the cyclic bending method.

The cyclic pulling method is to install the zipper on a special testing machine and pull the zipper repeatedly according to a certain speed and frequency until a failure occurs or a predetermined number of times is reached. The cyclic pulling method can test the sliding performance, tooth strength and slider strength of zipper.

Cyclic bending method is to fix the zipper on the special testing machine and bend the zipper repeatedly according to a certain angle and frequency until a fault occurs or a predetermined number of times is reached. The cyclic bending method can test the flexibility of zipper, tooth abrasion resistance, cloth tape abrasion resistance, etc.

By performing zipper wear test, we can understand the quality and service life of zippers, so that we can choose the right type and specification of zippers to improve the quality and beauty of garments. At the same time, we can also improve and optimize the zipper based on the test results to enhance its performance and reliability.
