Taber Rotary Abraser-taber5155 Abrasion Tester Operating Instructions:

Taber Rotary Abraser-taber 5155 wear resistance testing machine is mainly used to test the wear resistance of leather and plastic materials by rotating grinding, using different kinds of friction wheels to rotate on the sample. Select standard applicable weight sets to test material properties. Detect weight loss on the outer surface of the sample, such as obvious mechanical damage.

Test preparation:

1. Fix the test sample on the test turntable, select the required test weight and install it, and ensure that the test grinding wheel does not contact the sample fixing fixture during the test.

2. Turn the governor switch to the lowest level.

3. After setting the number of tests according to the test requirements, the whole machine is in the test state.

First step, taber wear-resistant friction wheel correction

A: Elastic (rubber) friction wheel correction

(1) Use 2 pieces of sandpaper for the new grinding wheel, and each piece of sandpaper turns 50 turns;

(2) If the used grinding wheel is less than 1000 revolutions before, pre-grind 25 revolutions or 50 revolutions (recommended pre-grinding 25 revolutions); if it is greater than or equal to 1000 revolutions, pre-grind 50 revolutions.

(3) During the test, the friction wheel needs to be pre-grinded for 25 or 50 revolutions every 1000 revolutions.

B: Ceramic friction wheel correction

Pre-grinding is not required unless the surface of the friction wheel is defective or otherwise damaged; during normal testing the surface abrasive particles are removed using a vacuum cleaner every 300 revolutions.

Sampling: 150mm*150mm, 5 pieces (actual sampling 100cm2), for samples with a width less than 125mm, the whole width test is used.

The second step is specific operation:

1. Set the corresponding grinding wheel and load as required. Grind the fabric to a specific end point and record the final number of revolutions; the end point may include Pass/Fail judgment criteria, such as: breaking strength loss, yarn breakage, coating/gloss/color loss, pilling and other appearance changes; if Customers have their own requirements, which can be used as the end point according to customer requirements.

2. Record the number of revolutions at the end of the sample, and take the average value of 5 samples.
